Two station details trip up many first-timers. The Gatimaan Express starts at Hazrat Nizamuddin (NZM), not New Delhi (NDLS). In Agra you get off at Agra Cantt (AGC), not at Agra Fort (AF).

Gatimaan Express: times and stations
The Gatimaan Express 12050 leaves Hazrat Nizamuddin at 8:10 a.m. and arrives at Agra Cantt at 9:50 a.m., which is 1 hour 40 minutes. It runs Sunday to Thursday and on Saturday, but not on Fridays. That matches the Taj Mahal, which is closed to day visitors on Fridays, so a Friday trip suits the fort and the road.
Departure times, fares and booking windows change, so check the current timetable and book your seat before you travel. The same applies to the Shatabdi and the Taj Express, which also serve Agra.
By road: Yamuna Expressway and tolls
The drive from Delhi is 225 km, planned at about 5 hours. Treat this as a planning figure, because traffic around Delhi and at the toll plazas changes it. For a car, the toll sections are INR 120 (Jewar), INR 155 (Mathura) and INR 140 (Agra), which comes to INR 415 in 2026. Rates can change, so expect the total to be the same or somewhat higher.

Agra airport
Agra's airport, Kheria, is shared with the military and has a small schedule. Delhi flights can be seasonal. A direct flight to Bengaluru takes about 2 hours 40 minutes. Look up the airline schedule for your dates, and do not plan around a Delhi flight without a booking.
Agra metro
Agra has a metro service, and the operator's app sells QR tickets. Enquiries go to 0562 2653225. Check which stations are open and the current hours before you plan a route around it. Do not assume a metro link to Agra Cantt.
From the station to the Agra Fort
The ride from Agra Cantt to the fort is about 3 to 5.5 km, depending on the route. The Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal lie about 2.5 km apart. Agree the fare before you start your taxi or rickshaw ride.
The Amar Singh Gate is the only entrance for visitors, and the military area is closed. The fort is open from sunrise to sunset, about 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., on every day including Fridays. More detail is on our Agra Fort tickets page.
Parking near the Taj needs care. The Shilpgram car park closed in May 2026 for construction work, so do not plan around it. Polluting motor vehicles are not allowed within 500 m of the Taj Mahal. Ask your driver or hotel where to be dropped off.
